Chapter 6 — Brimstone Badge

Brimber Gym

Make sure that you heal your Pokémon before proceeding! It is recommended that you train your Pokémon until they are at Lv. 22 or higher.

Once you get back from Mt. Igneus through Route 6, the Brimber Gym will be unlocked. Enter the building behind the Pokémon Center and up the stairs. Proceed to your second Gym battle when you're ready. The Gym is built in the base of the volcano, symbolizing that the Gym specializes in Fire-type Pokémon. Once you're in, there will be a noob and the Gym Guide. Talking to the Gym Guide tells you to fight the Gym Leader, which to get to you first need to do some parkour. Fire-type Pokémon are weak to Water, Ground and Rock. Marill and Azumarill are good choices to use, as they're the only Water-type Pokémon available other than Starter Pokémon before battling the second Gym, with its Water-type moves being super-effective. Other options include Hippopotas that can learn Dig at Lv. 19 a Ground-Type move, as well as the Fire/Ground-type Numel which gets Magnitude. Be warned that the Burn status condition not only damages you per turn but also halves your Attack, making Physical Attack moves weaker.

Proceed and jump over the two cracks in the ground. Pyro Lance will take you to a battle. He has three Slugmas. Not exactly a great variety, but don't let your guard down. Their abilities Magma Armor and Flame Body have a 30% chance to burn any Pokémon that makes contact with it, so avoid using Contact Moves. Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type, all of which are super-effective on Slugma, tend to be ranged, so don't worry too much! Slugma has low defenses, so it can be easily taken out by a super-effective attack.

Once you defeat Pyro Lance, continue the parkour. When you get to the rainbow rock wall, press the up arrow key to make it up. You will then be on the second floor of the gym. Make sure to stay close to the wall so you don't fall off into the lava. You will then see Pyro Bryce. He'll stop you and ask for a battle. He has a Charmeleon. Beware of Charmeleon, as it is able to release a powerful Dragon Rage. Dragon Rage deals 40 HP worth of damage every time, so it is extremely strong at this stage, as at least one of Pokémon have below 40 maximum HP. However, it does 0 damage against Fairy-types. Marill is a great way to counter Charmeleon. It can launch super-effective moves such as Aqua Tail, and stay immune to Dragon Rage as well. It is extremely recommended to catch a Marill, especially against Charmeleon.

Continue once you've defeated Pyro Lance. Next, battle Pyro Cole. He will tell you that you're halfway through the parkour. Pyro Cole has a Ponyta and a Litleo. Ponyta has 90 base Speed - extremely fast for a non-evolved Pokémon. Combined with a powerful 85 base Attack, Ponyta can be a major threat if not taken care of fast. However, Ponyta has fragile defenses, so it can be easily taken out by a Pokémon such as Marill. Next is Litleo. It can be easily taken out by a super-effective move due to also having fragile defenses. Beware of Noble Roar and Headbutt, however. Noble Roar lowers the Attack and Special Attack of a Pokémon, and Headbutt is powerful STAB move for Litleo. As Ghost-types possess an immunity to Normal-types, you can switch into a Ghost-type such as Gastly to take the hit. However, Litleo may use another move, so it is recommended to stay with a Pokémon that has super-effective moves against Litleo.

If you have not healed your Pokémon this whole time, it is recommended to go back and heal. If you fall, don't give up! You'll make it eventually! If your Pokémon are weakened, a good tip is to heal your Pokémon when you fall down, because you are brought back to the beginning of the parkour. Proceed on to Pyro Moe. He has a Torkoal, which can be dangerous. As Torkoal has a humongous base 140 Defense, it is recommended to use a Special type move. Even then, Torkoal still has a decent base 70 Special Defense and base 70 HP. Take Torkoal out with a super-effective Special move such as a Bubble Beam from a Marill or an Azumarill. If not taken out in one super-effective hit, Torkoal should be taken out in two or three.

VS Sebastian

VS Leader Sebastian!

After you have done doing the parkour, you can now challenge Sebastian. He re-introduces himself again and thanks you for taking care of Team Eclipse in Mt. Igneus. He wants you now to bring out your Pokémon's power. Get ready for battle!

Beware of Sebastian's Pokémon as they all possess Overheat. Sebastian will first send out Litleo. You know what to do, because you already battled one. However, don't be careless - Litleo has another powerful move Take Down. To your advantage, Litleo receives recoil from Take Down, and Take Down only has 85% accuracy. After Litleo is defeated, Sebastian will send out Growlithe. Growlithe has powerful moves in Fire Fang and Flame Wheel, and make sure to take out Growlithe fast with a super-effective move, because Reversal is more powerful the less HP the user has. However, Growlithe has low defenses so it can be easily taken out by a super-effective move. Sebastian's final Pokémon is Magmar. Magmar has good attacking stats, so it can be a major threat. It is recommended to take out Magmar with a Physical move, as Magmar has much better Special Defense, but lacks in Defense. Rock-type and Ground-type moves tend to be Physical, so they can do lots of damage to Magmar. A powerful Aqua Tail from an Azumarill can also do loads of damage. If taken care of quickly, you don't have to worry about Magmar. After beating Magmar, Sebastian's final Pokémon, Sebastian will give you $4000, the Brimstone Badge, and TM50 Overheat. Overheat deals massive damage, but lowers the user's Special Attack by two stages in return. Now, you can proceed on to Route 7!

Route 7

Once you get back out of the gym, turn right. Route 7 will be unlocked. Remember the guy who was standing and blocking the entrance to Route 7 and said you couldn't enter unless you had the badge? Well, now you have it. Climb up the stairs and click on the fence-door to proceed to Route 7. Once you enter, the first thing you'll see is a man in a green shirt. He'll stop you and congratulate you on earning the Brimstone badge. He is Cool Trainer Braden, so battle him. Once you finished, ahead of you to the right there will be a large turn with grass. Go there, and Lady Sarah, another trainer, will stop you and battle. Once you're done, to the right there will be yet another trainer, Rising star Melvin, who will say that he'll have stunt doubles to fight his Pokémon battles soon. Haha. Well, anyway, battle him, he has 3 Pokémon.

Rookie Adam and Camper Jacob will be ready to fight you again once you rejoin the game. If you desperately need to train your Pokémon for fighting Silvent Gym, Jacob will definitely help. Return to the slope next to Student Chase after getting HM8 Rock Climb. Above the small cliff, TM23 Smack Down can be picked up.

Note: Rarity levels are estimations according to this scale but they are supported by the official encounter rates, which are listed in under the rarity level if known. If there are any Pokémon with low catch rates, the possibility to flee or requirement of gaining happiness to evolve, recommended Poké Balls for that Pokémon will be shown with the corresponding bag sprite under the Pokémon's name.

After that, ahead of you to the right will be a bridge made of light wood. Talk to the guy in a suit who's sitting on it, who is Hipster Lincoln. He'll ask to battle, and once you defeat him, go to your right and battle the trainer in front of the bridge, named Rebellious girl Jess. There is no need to enter the house because there is nothing to find in there. Cross the bridge and talk to the guy in the beige shirt who will tell you there is a cave under the bridge, that you can get to by surfing down the river. To get there, continue on the grass until you reach Salesman Doug. Once you battle him, you'll be able to get past the slim piece of land that gets to the river entrance. You'll see a trainer dressed as a Karate Master. He will tell you that the lumberjacks let their Bidoofs out again, and they built a dam that prevents anyone from getting to Lagoona Lake. If you cross the bridge, you'll see a large warehouse. Go behind it and lying on the ground will be a Miracle Seed. Pick it up and enter the warehouse. Once you're in the warehouse, battle all 3 Pokémon trainers - Lumberjack Buck, Lumberjack Al, and Lumberjack Paul. After defeating all three lumberjacks, the boss will storm in. He will state that he had to break the dam with his Pokémon to stop the flooding. If you talk to the boss later, he will ask you to battle him once you have all eight badges. But let's worry about this later. Now, head on to Lagoona Lake!

Note: Player must defeat Lumberjacks Buck, Al and Paul to proceed for Lagoona Lake.

Lagoona Lake

Lagoona Lake is a quiet spot.

Then, from there, go diagonally and you'll see a large stairway going down. Walk down and there will be a teal door, which leads to the Lagoona Lake Lab. If you talk to the blond scientist standing in front of you, she will explain things about the history of Lagoona Lake. Then she will go on to show you the Underwater Mining Vessel, which you can purchase a dive with batteries. She tells you that the lab has enough funding to send you down there for free just once, and if you want to go underwater mining again, you will need to buy UMV Batteries with Robux. Go back up the stairs and out of the laboratory, and turn right. You will then see more jagged stairs, leading down to a fork in the road. One side goes to a grey and green pair of doors and the other leads to a pretty little house in front of Lagoona Lake. Enter the house, and the person will give you a free fishing rod called the Old Rod, which you can use to fish.

You can also breed here. The old man standing outside of the blue roofed house will give you eggs. When you enter the Lagoona Day Care, you with see a PC box, a Old lady, and a a woman. Talk to the woman and she will give you a white egg (Zangoose) or a Black egg (Seviper).Which will you choose? If you talk to the Old Lady, she will ask you if you want to leave any of your pokemon there to level up. Also, if you put two pokemon, one female, one male, in the same egg group, they will breed. After walking around for a while, you can talk to the man outside and eventually, he will give you the egg of the female. After walking for a certain number of steps, the egg will hatch into the female pokemon you breeded.

When you talk to the man, he'll say either "The two seem to get along very well!" (70% Chance), "The two seem to get along" (50% Chance), or "The two don't really seem to like each other very much." (20% Chance) If it says "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon more than with each other.", that means they are in different Egg Groups, and therefore cannot breed. (0% Chance)

No Legendary or Mythical Pokémon may breed, with the exceptions of Manaphy and Phione, both giving Phione eggs when breed with Ditto.

Note: Rarity levels are estimations according to this scale but they are supported by the official encounter rates, which are listed in under the rarity level if known.

Lagoona Trenches

Before mining in Lagoona Trenches, you will be forced to save the game. While underwater, find a shiny spot and click on it. You can choose from explosives or a drill to mine. Be warned that if the wall takes too much damage before all treasures in the wall are dug out, it will collapse and all treasures that are not mined up will be lost (this is indicated by a green bar). Treasures range from the very common shards, to the very rare and sought-after Fossilized Eggs.
