Having access to a high Speed stat, useful utility moves, and the ability to effectively generate momentum through U-turn, Cinderace is a consistent offensive pivot. Its high base Speed solidifies it as a potent revenge killer of a plethora of offensive threats such as Ogerpon-W, Tapu Lele lacking Choice Scarf, and Iron Valiant. Court Change makes Cinderace a solid entry hazard removal option, as it matches up excellently against hazard stacking teams. Additionally, it can remove hazards in the face of Gholdengo, one of the most common Pokemon used to prevent hazard removal. Will-O-Wisp is preferred over coverage options, as it allows Cinderace to weaken common physical attackers like Kingambit, Garchomp, and Dragonite, though Sucker Punch can be used to revenge kill faster threats like Volcarona after a Quiver Dance boost and Tornadus-T. Gunk Shot is also an option that OHKOes Tapu Lele, Ogerpon-W, and Iron Valiant along with threatening Mega Diancie, Tapu Fini, and Clefable with 2HKOs. Heavy-Duty Boots nullifies Cinderace's weakness to hazards, allowing it to act as a more consistent pivot. Blaze allows Cinderace to score a 2HKO against the likes of Landorus-T and offensive Great Tusk while OHKOing Tapu Lele and Iron Valiant with Pyro Ball. Libero also has its perks, as Cinderace can deal more damage with U-turn and change types to get rid of its Ground and Water weaknesses, helping it defensively. The second EV spread allows Cinderace to outspeed Iron Valiant lacking a Speed Booster Energy boost while scoring a 2HKO on specially defensive Galarian Slowking.

Cinderace fits best on offense and bulky offense teams that appreciate its ability to consistently generate momentum, reliably remove entry hazards, and revenge kill offensive threats. As Cinderace can threaten Mega Scizor and Clefable if running Gunk Shot, it is an effective teammate for Landorus-T and Great Tusk, which benefit from it threatening their checks. Potent wallbreakers such as Tapu Lele, Mega Diancie, and Mega Latios appreciate Cinderace's ability to consistently pivot; in return, they can wound its checks including Alomomola and Toxapex. Cinderace often struggles to safely enter the field due to its mediocre bulk, meaning it can't switch into the likes of Zamazenta, Ogerpon-W, and Raging Bolt. Therefore, defensive staples like Ferrothorn, Pecharunt, and Zapdos are appreciated. The former can reliably set hazards to ease Cinderace's ability to pick up OHKOs and 2HKOs, while the latter two can pivot it in, thus giving it more opportunities to enter the field. Cinderace lacks reliable recovery, making it easy to chip down over time; therefore, Alomomola can help with its longevity by Wish passing to it.

With its high base Speed, good coverage options, and access to Libero and Swords Dance, Cinderace can function as an effective wallbreaker and setup sweeper. It matches up excellently against plethora of Steel- and Fairy-types, such as Ferrothorn, Gholdengo, and Clefable. After setting up once, Breakneck Blitz allows it to score OHKOs on many would-be checks, such as Toxapex, Alomomola, and Landorus-T, while All-Out Pummeling allows it to remove Mega Tyranitar, Heatran, and Ting-Lu. Alomomola is also OHKOed by boosted All-Out Pummeling, preventing it from being a consistent check. Sucker Punch allows Cinderace to revenge kill faster threats after a good amount of chip damage, including Tornadus-T and Choice Scarf Landorus-T, while letting it play mind games against Kingambit and Raging Bolt. It prevents Dragonite from setting up with Multiscale and threatening Cinderace in return as well as threatening Mega Latios; these traits are especially useful for Fightinium Z variants.

Cinderace fits best on a variety of hyper offense and bulky offense teams that appreciate its ability to effectively remove defensive staples like Alomomola, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn. Dual screens from Tapu Koko and Grimmsnarl aid Cinderace's mediocre bulk, allowing it to set up more aggressively against foes such as Gholdengo. Entry hazards from Landorus-T and Mega Diancie improve its wallbreaking capabilities, notably OHKOing Gliscor with boosted Pyro Ball after Stealth Rock. Sticky Web support from Araquanid and Ribombee prevents Cinderace from getting revenge killed by faster foes such as Mega Lopunny and Tapu Koko. Offensive teammates such as Kingambit and Hisuian Samurott benefit from its wallbreaking ability. They overwhelm shared checks, like Landorus-T and Great Tusk. The latter can also consistently set entry hazards with Ceaseless Edge, easing Cinderace's ability to break through defensive cores. On bulky offense teams, Cinderace's mediocre bulk gives it extremely limited opportunities to enter the field and set up. This means that slow pivots like Alomomola, Slowbro, and Galarian Slowking are appreciated. As a teammate, Cinderace can threaten Ferrothorn and Gholdengo, which often come in on the aforementioned pivots. Although Cinderace has a high base Speed stat, it finds itself being forced out by common revenge killers without Sticky Web support, such as Mega Lopunny, Zamazenta, and Choice Scarf Urshifu-R. Sturdy defensive backbones including Toxapex, Slowbro, and Alomomola can check these threats. Due to Cinderace's typing, it ends up being vulnerable to entry hazards. Premier hazard removal options such as Great Tusk, Terapagos, and Landorus-T aid it greatly. In return, Landorus-T and Great Tusk appreciate Cinderace's ability to remove Slowbro, Alomomola, and opposing Great Tusk, greatly enabling their offensive potential.
